Despite the drought and the high temperatures August turned into an excellent month for Kercock with 39 fish caught which was well over the five year average of 27.
There were a lot of good anglers on the beat who were prepared to adapt to the conditions. Small sparsely dressed flies and flying C’s caught most of the fish. There were a lot of fish showing all over the beat especially in the Dungeon pool but these proved almost impossible to tempt but it kept a lot of anglers occupied despite evidence that they weren’t in a taking mood! As the water temperature fell there were less fish showing and more taking , definitely the right way to round.
